Swans & Cygnets

We currently have 8 beautiful cygnets swimming on our Lakes at the moment, which made me think it might be nice to write a short blog about swans in wales…

We have two beautiful swans here at the Lake and each year we have a lovely bunch of cygnets. The swans are very friendly and have been here a while now. I say friendly, the male can be quite protective while he's nesting.  We have a fantastic Swan Rescue here in Wales, which cover most of Wales and the west. Swan Rescue South Wales was formed in the mid 1970’s; it is run by a few dedicated volunteers who recognise the difficulties swans can endure almost every day. We had an encounter with Wales Swan Rescue not too long ago, a new swan had managed to come along and disrupt our happy couple, ending not to fantastically for him. We called swan rescue straight away when we saw him at the bottom of our grounds. We kept him fed with left over brown toast from breakfast and within a day they were to pick him up. I have attached some pictures of our cygnets and even of the cob, Wales swan rescue took away (ikea bags can come in handy).
