Access Statement

The Lake Country House & Spa is a Traditional Mock Tudor Country House set within 50 Acres of Gardens and Mature Woodland. We Pride ourselves on meeting all the needs of our guests, although this is the case there are a number of period features which may make it difficult for people with limited mobility to get to all bedrooms within the hotel. The Lake Country House & Spa has 30 en suite Bedrooms, 5 of which are situated on the 2nd floor in the main house. There are 12 suites on the first floor which are accessible via a flight of stairs, the one remaining room in the house is situated on the ground floor and is accessible via ramps. The lodge building is situated 50m from the hotel which has 6 first floor suites and ground floor suites, one of the ground floor suites has been specially designed with the less mobile in mind. The restaurant, lounges, billiard and conference rooms are all accessible by wheelchair.

Pre-arrival

We are located on the A483 between Builth Wells and Llandovery which is approximately 1 hour 15mins from the M4 at Newport or Cardiff. Llangammarch Wells Train station is 1 mile away, it is a request stop so remember to make sure the driver knows. You would need to get the train from Shrewsbury or Swansea. Please call us in advance to arrange collection from the station.

Arrival & Car Parking

Check-in is normally after 2pm on day of arrival and check-out is 11.00am on day of departure. Please call to make arrangements should you wish for an earlier check-in, we are always happy to look after your luggage, whilst you explore the grounds or enjoy a light lunch.On arrival follow the signs to reception, please stop by our front door where you will be met. Luggage can be unloaded at this time and taken straight to your room. Cars can then be moved to our car park, please follow the signs or ask a member of staff to park your car.

Main Entrance & Reception

There are 5 steps followed by a further one by the main door way. You are able to gain access to the reception area and all ground floor rooms from the side entrance which is accessible from the small country road at the side of the hotel, this is the main access for wheelchair users. Umbrellas can be found in the main porch. You will be welcomed into our hall area. The floor is carpeted with rugs. We will show you around the downstairs area so you can see all the rooms. The oak room is just on the left as you enter the hall, this oak paneled room has a polished floor with a rug. Its very cosy and makes a fantastic small lounge, is perfect for an intimate meal or private dinner with friends. On the left hand side of the entrance you can find the main staircase, if there is no one to hand there is a small bell which you can ring next to the stairs. Alternatively you can make your way to our small reception in the far left hand corner.

LoungeOn the right hand side of the main staircase there are two large doors into our lounge. The floor is polished with a some fantastic rugs, comfy sofa's and roaring log fires.

Restaurant

The Lake Country House & Spa restaurant is on the left hand side as you enter the lounge. The easiest way to enter the restaurant for wheelchair users is through the main hall and lounge. Although access can be gained from outside there are 3 steps. It may be easier for some people with impaired mobility to use this access moving too and from the lodge building. The Lake Country House & Spa is licensed for the sale of alcohol. Staff are able to guide you through the menu, they are available in large bold print with prior arrangement. Lighting throughout the house is mainly natural throughout the day, staff are always on hand to increase the lighting if required. Candles are placed on the tables in the evening. Our chefs are wiling to cater for any dietary needs, please advise on booking.

Billiard room

The Billiard room is situated on the ground floor next to the side entrance. There is easy access to it with no stairs from the main hall and reception areas. The floor is carpeted and there is a full size snooker table in the centre of the room. There is space to move a wheelchair around the table.

Conference Room

Although the conference room is situated on the first floor there is access from outside via a ramp at the back of the hotel. There is also access up the main staircase in the hall area. At the back of the room their is a smaller break out room and easy access to toilets on the same level. The floor is carpeted throughout and there is plenty of light through windows the length of the room.

Public ToiletsThe gentleman's and ladies toilets can be found on the ground floor a short walk from the hall.

Bedrooms

All of our bedrooms are individually designed and have their own charm and character. There are 18 rooms in the main house. Of which 5 are on the first floor and are accessible via 2 flights of stairs. The rooms on the first floor are split on two levels. The lower level has 2 suites and 2 rooms on it and is accessible via 15 steps. The upper level has a mixture of suites and rooms on it and is accessible by the main stair case which has 27 steps. There is also a ground floor suite which has a walk in shower and separate bath tub. This room is available as a twin or double and can be accessed easily from the side entrance or from the main hall and lounge.
Our lodge is within 50 meters of the hotel and has 6 ground floor suites. One has been designed with people with impaired mobility in mind. There is a ramp into the room, it is a large spacious suite with a walk in wet room with support rails and a raised toilet. There is also an alarm system in place within the room. The other suites on the ground floor are accessible via one small step and all have separate shower and baths with large spacious lounges. All beds are prepared with duvets; if you prefer blankets, let us know when you make your reservation. There is room service for morning tea and coffee, meals and refreshments. Complimentary tea trays can be placed in your room by prior arrangement. Each bedroom has a comprehensive Room Directory giving all information required or dial 0 for reception.

Gardens & Grounds

There are 50 acres of grounds which include the lake, lawns and woodland. There is a 9 hole par three golf course, croquet lawn and tennis court. Please contact reception if you would like any equipment which is free of charge and available either from the spa or the main house.

Additional InformationIn the case of a fire, an alarm sounds continuously. A member of the team will come to your room and assist with evacuation. Please advise if you have a hearing impediment at the time of booking or check-in. There are fire extinguishers throughout the Hotel and fire exits are well signed and lit.

All our staff has regular training that includes fire and emergencies. There is good mobile coverage outside the house. We are happy to refrigerate any medication or perishables including baby food.Smoking is only permitted outside, under the covered porch area. At any time please do not hesitate to ask a member of the team, they will be happy to help you.
