What Our Guests Say . . .

Since opening as a country house hotel in the 1840's, The Lake has built up an enviable reputation both as a hotel, spa and wedding venue

“You will not wish to leave”

With log fires in the main rooms, friendly and efficient staff, excellent food and wines, this elegant house is the perfect place in which to relax. (Dec 12)

“Relaxing mid-Wales stay with excellent food”

We had a very friendly welcome; lovely room, well furnished with good bathroom and complimentary dressing gowns. We had the eight course dinner tasting menu which was excellent...the best fillet of lamb we have ever had. The staff were always attentive and friendly. We enjoyed the pool and a walk around the extensive grounds after a lovely cooked Welsh breakfast. Altogether a very enjoyable experience. We plan to return in the summer. (Dec 12)

“Second visit as good as first”

We rarely return to hotels but this was as good on the second visit as the first. The food is excellent...all of it . We wouldn't consider eating out when we stay here, the food is just too good at the hotel! The staff are outstandingly good, friendly (without being in your face), courteous and efficient. If you want complete relaxation and a bit of spoiling in lovely surroundings then The Lake is for you. (Dec 12)

“Perfect getaway!”

We've just returned from a lovely short break at the Lake Country House & Spa. A gorgeous hotel in beautiful grounds, well worth a visit! The staff were very friendly from the moment we stepped through the door! The location is fantastic with tonnes of lovely walks, many of which you hardly even need to leave the grounds for - just be prepared to have a Labrador or two tag along. (Nov 12)

“One of the best I've stayed at”

The room was absolutely stunning and very comfy. The food was also excellent and the service superb. I stay in hotels in a very regular basis and this was probably one of the best I've stayed at. Great walks around the hotel and a fantastically glamorous interior to the hotel itself. (Nov 12)

“Amazing Grayling and Trout whilst fishing the River Irfon”

My wife booked us a stay here for my birthday and whilst she enjoyed the fantastic spa and treatments, I was allowed a full day and a half fishing the wonderful river Irfon within the lakes grounds. What I got was simply the best two days grayling fishing in 30+ years. The room was superb, service excellent and the food was divine.  (Oct 12)

“Total relaxation”

Stayed at the hotel for two nights with the champagne package. The hotel, spa and grounds are wonderful. It is so peaceful. The staff were exceptional, friendly and attentive. The food was very good and afternoon tea an extra special treat! We left feeling pampered and very spoilt. (August 2012)

“Very pleasant stay in the Welsh countryside”

The main building is picturesque, and the entrance hall is lovely. We ate in the hotel restaurant both evenings, and the food was very good. Overall, our stay was very nice, comfortable accommodation, lovely building, lovely grounds, and lovely facilities. (July 2012)

“Relaxing retreat in beautiful surroundings”

We had a lovely long weekend here in June for a joint family birthday celebration and all of us really enjoyed it. The hotel, spa and grounds are stunning. The staff are very helpful and friendly. We had several treatments and made good use of the pool which was excellent, overall a lovely place to spend a couple of days in the lap of luxury. (July 2012)

“Luxurious break!”

We stayed here on Sunday night to break our journey from London back to North Wales. What a brilliant idea! The bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in and the duvet and pillows were incredibly soft. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub twice during our stay and thought what a fabulous idea it was to have set times for children to use the pool. The staff were attentive, immaculately dressed and very amenable. I would not hesitate to recommend Lake Country House to anyone, and, in fact, have been spending the last 2 days doing just that. (June 2012)

“A great hotel”

We were married here in 2005 and were lucky enough to also see my Sister married here this year. Her wedding reception was fabulous - the food was great, the staff were uniformly kind and welcoming and the whole event was a wonderful success. The overall experience was fantastic. The art of making a hotel feel like a home is alive and well at the Lake. We love it here and hope to be back many times again over the years. (June 2012)

“A real tonic”

We booked through secret escapes and enjoyed the loveliest few days in truly gorgeous surroundings. Our suite was so large that we worried initially that they might have put us in the wrong room! It was immaculate, classic and neutral in style; perfect for relaxing in with the most beautiful outlook over the grounds. Despite the fact that the weather reached mass wash-out level in Wales, we cared not a jot since we had so much room to chill out in and the spa does a large range of treatments. Afternoon tea in the lounge in front of log burner was a real treat, as was dinner. (June 2012)

“Nice romantic escape”

What a beautiful setting for a "get away from it all" romantic break. My husband and I went for our anniversary to enjoy time away without the children and take advantage of the spa treatments together. The spa treatments were amazing and we were able to have them side by side in their double treatment room making the experience extra special. Go for at least 2 nights otherwise you will not have time to enjoy the spa facilities to their full potential or the delights of the surrounding area. (May 2012)

“I only wish I had booked a longer stay”

Oh my goodness this hotel is utterly fabulous, set in the grounds of a simply magnificent estate. My huge room had a luxury bathroom, and toiletries that were a joy to use, looked directly onto the beautifully manicured gardens. There is a glorious drawing room with attentive staff to serve glasses of anything fabulous, before and after dinner. The food has great attention to detail and was simply awesome; this was echoed around the restaurant by other guests. If being surrounded by calm, with unstuffy yet high end service, set in the mountains of Wales with access to a pool and spa floats your boat, look no further, you won’t beat this fabulous hotel. (May 2012)

“Would happily have moved in forever”

Overall, we would absolutely recommend a stay here: the hotel is beautiful, the beds are the best you will ever sleep on, the grounds are breath-taking as is the surrounding area, the staff are extremely professional and the food is a delight. We will definitely be staying here again: we may, in fact, book up here again instead of a trip abroad! (April 2012)
